A new Army Wife's journey cross country to start her new found Army lifestyle.
situmadre-deactivated20131025 asked: Hi! I saw that you are living in AZ I'm moving there in a few months :)
That’s awesome! Where from???? I moved here from NY. I absolutely love it here!
truthinsidethelie asked: This is my ridiculous loyalty and love for this restaurant is showing but go to la casita on fry blvd! The food is amazing and they make their own chips and its my happy delicious place and has been since I was like 14. I'm done being creepy now. Just kidding check out tombstone!
Thanks!!! I’ve heard La Casita is really good! it is definitely on my list of places to check out! My husband isn’t really a mexican food fan unless it’s taco bell, but hopefully when i make more friends we can go our for girl’s night there! And I think we need to revisit tombstone in a night setting haha but we had a lot of fun there when we went during the day :) Thanks for the recommendation!
Last time we chatted I had just gotten a job and Hubbs had just moved into the apartment. Since then, he has graduated AIT, is now in Big Army (I.e. is Permanent Party), and we have actually started to fully settle in to being married.
Not going to lie, in the beginning it was tough, getting used to mannerisms, dealing with lifestyle changes…..there were a decent amount of fights, and to be honest, we’re still working through some of the drama. But hey that’s what married life is right? Especially the first year? But besides the occasional disagreement, we’re actually doing really well now.
I’m finally starting to make some more friends in the Army Wife Sector :) All the wives I’ve met so far are really sweet. We had our first FRG (Family Readiness Group) meeting the other day. I think it’s going to be a really good group of families. Everyone is so welcoming and so friendly and so helpful. I’m really excited.
Hubby and I are waiting/trying to get on post. The houses are GORGEOUS!!! And our 1 bedroom apartment is just too small. Especially what we’re paying for it. The only problem is if we get a house on post before our lease is up, we’re going to have to end up paying around $1200 to break our lease. PLUS we still have to pay back moving expenses…..but hopefully we’ll make some headway on that as soon as his orders are cut.
In the beginning of March we adopted an adorable kitty named Precious. We went to the shelter, she was the first one we took out of the cage to play with and we were in love. She’s all white with one gray patch on her forehead and has one blue eye and one gold eye. She’s about 9 months old now. We got her home and decided that we didn’t like the name Precious so we changed it to Pax, which means Peace in Latin. She’s our little Psychokitty and we love her.
My last day at The Herald was April 1st. The girl I was replacing came back from maternity leave. Yay for her, sad for me. So now we’re waiting on hearing back from a few applications that I put in. Currently the top contender is a management position at the new JoAnn Fabric’s that they will be building here. I interviewed and filled out my background check permission forms, and now we’re just waiting on the word of yes or no, so fingers crossed for me everyone! It would be for an Operations Team Leader :) I am really excited. The Herald is also looking to see if they can come up with a Freelance/Independant Contract photography/advertising position for me as well. So fingers crossed on that too.
I am really happy because I finally feel like things are actually falling into place. When I first got here, it was difficult and very frustrating basically being on my own for a decent amount of the time. Honestly, I was quite depressed. But now that I’m making friends, I’m finding stuff to do, and Hubby is actually working somewhat normal hours for the time being, I can actually settle into a married life routine. It will be even better when I have a job again, hopefully full time, so that we’re not crunching numbers like madmen. ^.^
Touristy notes to end this update:
Bisbee is a town that’s about 30 minutes outside of the town we live in and it is AMAZING!!!! It’s this cute artsy little town that is literally built into the side of a mountain! It is absolutely gorgeous!
Hubby and I did a Ghost Tour there the other weekend. It was so much fun! I was kind of worried that it was going to be cheesy but it was very historical. It was great! Then we went out for coffee at The Bisbee Coffee Company. Their cafe lattes are comparable to the ones I had in Italy with Mama. I was so excited! Some of the best Mexican food in the area, that I have had so far, was at Santiago’s, where we went for dinner. There food is amazing, the service is amazing, and the atmosphere is so fun!
Tomorrow we will hopefully be checking out Screaming Banshee Pizza….I’ll let y’all know how it goes. <3
As far as I can tell that’s all the big news right now. :) I promise I will try not to wait so long between updates from now on….even if it’s just pictures.
Love you all.
Happy Trails <3
